About The Company

Custom Bike Parts Ottawa was started in 2025, and is run by Micah Black. We create custom parts for all kinds of bikes - road, mountain, gravel, and triathlon bikes, specific to you and your position. We also design standard parts such as bottle mounts and computer mounts.

Micah started creating custom parts for his own bikes with his 3D printer back in 2022. He first made a computer mount to go at the end of clip-on aero bars on his road bike. Now, he gets parts manufactured in CNC-machined aluminum and finished with black hardcoat anodizing, just like other off-the-shelf parts. After getting into triathlons and having a bike fit with James Van Toever (physiobikefitter.com), he designed some stack risers, reach extensions, and bottle mounts for his new triathlon bike. These custom parts allowed him to be more comfortable in the aero position and stay there as much as safely possible for his first Ironman (IM Ottawa 2025). He made some parts by request for a few friends, and then decided to make the business official with a website shortly after.

About Micah

I grew up in Ottawa, played hockey and soccer as a kid, did pretty well at cross-country running in school, but it wasn’t until university (Mechatronics Engineering, University of Waterloo) that I really got into cycling and long-distance endurance sports. During one of my 4-month internships, I got my first road bike (a Devinci Leo), did my first half-marathon (Golden Gate Half), and my first duathlon (Marin Triathlon). After the internship, a friend convinced me to try out for the varsity cross-country team, which I joined in my final year, and to join him for the Niagara Falls Barrelman, a local half-distance triathlon. At this point, I definitely had the triathlon bug and was looking for my next challenge. Despite my background in running, cycling is my strongest and favorite part of triathlons.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process for custom parts?
  1. Customer provides requirements and ideas about what they want
  2. On-paper brainstorming and design process
  3. Bike measurement
  4. CAD Design
  5. 3D print prototype(s)
  6. Perform test fit(s)
  7. Re-design and test fit until satisfied
  8. Arrange manufacturing of final product (either locally or overseas)
Are your products manufactured in Canada?

Some 3D printed parts are made on my 3D printer here in Ottawa, Canada. Most parts are made overseas because custom 1-off metal machining is extremely expensive locally compared to suppliers overseas (about 5x more expensive). If you want your parts made in Canada, we can arrange that for the extra cost.

Do you offer custom parts outside of Ottawa?

Generally not. The measurement and fit check process is much easier to do in person. For very simple parts, it may be possible to do this remotely, but the preferred method is for me to have your bike for a few days.

What is your return policy?

Due to the nature of custom parts, there are no returns on custom parts. We will do everything we can to ensure you are satisfied with your parts.

What's up with the Canada Goose?

As cyclists around Ottawa (and many other cities) may know, Canadian geese can be a bit of a nuisance on bike paths throughout
the city. It’s a fun symbol for a local bike company.
